Nissha/Eimo Technologies wins 2022 IMDA award
Nissha Eimo Technologies, Inc. with NISSHA IMD film receives the 2022 IMDA award for Best Use of IMD for Capacitive Touch Applications.
This In-Mold decoration part combines a premium look with high functional elements. It is designed for a user interface panel inside of the freezer and refrigerator for FREGEDAIRE and other Electrolux brand. Its high-end inspired look is created by Nissha Eimo’s outstanding printing technology; a brushed satin metallic appearance, a fingerprint resistant surface, and seamless hidden-til-lit effect.
In addition to the excellence of the look, this capacitive touch application is actually located inside of the freezer and refrigerator, which shows the durability enabled by Nissha Eimo’s IMD technology.
With precise registration, the capability between artwork (film) and geometry(injection molding), user interface features such as hidden display, icons, and other key artwork elements are perfectly matched in this long size part.
The IMDA (In-Mold Decorating Association) is “a trade association representing molders, label printers, material suppliers, equipment suppliers and others committed to the development and growth of in-mold labeling and decorating products, technologies and markets.” The 2022 IMDA Awards Competition reviewed “outstanding IML, IMD and IME submissions that were produced in 2021 or were slated for release in 2022. IMD is a simple and productive process. Versatile CMF designs are done inside of the tooling without any pre / secondary process, and the whole process is managed by a roll to roll system. Decoration is completed, including hard coat protection, with just a single shot molding.
