NISSHA / EIMO receives 2023 IMDA Award
Nissha Group has been honored with two awards in the 2023 IMDA Awards Competition. The first award, an Honorable Mention for “Best Use of IMD/Foil Application Print Quality & Design,” was presented to Nissha USA, Inc. in recognition of their innovative approach to enhancing the GE Profile washer/dryer combo product. The key innovation lies in the In-Mold decoration part, which incorporates our unique partial matte technology, seamlessly blending both matte and gloss finishes on the same surface. This method allows our customers to maintain exceptional clarity in the LCD area while achieving a luxurious matte finish outside of the LCD region. Furthermore, the IMD film includes a durable hard coat and hidden-til-lit features, all achievable through a single injection process.
The second award, another Honorable Mention, is for “Best Use of IMD for In-House Promotion or Prototype.” This accolade was bestowed upon Nissha Eimo Technologies, Inc., recognizing their pioneering work in laminating a touch sensor on the backside of an IMD component. This prototype, designed for a user interface panel, serves as a prime example of how our technologies can elevate the user experience. The precision in registration between decoration and touch sensor is made possible through our molding and lamination capabilities, promising a new level of user interface experience by harmoniously combining aesthetics and functionality.
The IMDA (In-Mold Decorating Association) is a “trade association representing molders, label printers, material suppliers, equipment suppliers and others committed to the development and growth of in-mold labeling and decorating products, technologies and markets.”
The 2023 IMDA Awards Competition reviewed outstanding IMD, IML and IME solutions produced in 2022 or released in 2023. Entries are received from around the globe, featuring the best in class IMD and technical achievements. Judges review overall design and complexity, integration of the IMD element, functionality, as well as innovative use of materials and process. IMD is a simple and productive process. Versatile CMF designs are done inside of the tooling without any pre / secondary process, and the whole process is managed by a roll to roll system. Decoration is completed, including hard coat protection, with just a single shot molding.
User-Interface and functional features are also able to be incorporated.
